Want a quick fix for stopping the possibility of someone "Mistakenly" visiting a site on the home computer that is not "PG" rated? This fix is easy to make and once done if a user attempts to go to a site that is a pornographic or malicious web site. Its fairly easy to make this change to your home or work Network setup. Just follow these steps and of course if you find it to limiting or do not like it you can always return to your default setting for DNS and let it "Obtain DNS Server Address Automatically". 1. From Start Button, go to Network Connections (Network and Sharing in Vista) 2. Select your network (typically Local Area Network) and right click to choose 'Properties'. 3. Select TCP or TCP/IPv4, whichever is listed, and click on 'Properties'. 4. Under 'Use the Following DNS Server Addresses' , specify the ScrubIT DNS servers: 67.138.54.100 as preferred; 207.225.209.66 as alternate. To go back to your previous setting choose "Obtain DNS server address automatically. This of course does not block out all the bad sites out there but it sure cuts down on a lot of the mainstream ones. For additional information you can also check out Scrubit's site.
